Marathon Havana 2023

The marathon course leads through numerous neighborhoods of the city, along the Malecón waterfront with views of Havana Bay and old stately buildings, through the old town with its treasure trove of colonial buildings, past monuments such as the Capitolio (modeled after the Capitol in Washington), the Parque Central in the old town, the famous Plaza de la Revolución with huge wall installations as the likenesses of the popular heroes Ernesto Ché Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos and the Memorial José Martí built as a 142m high column in honor of this poet and popular hero - places and squares in which more than 500 years of history and architecture are reflected!

On Sunday, November 22nd, the International Marathon Marabana will start in Havana, with participants coming from all over the world. The marathon, the half marathon and a distance of 10km will be run.

One day before the marathon, the internationally recognized running project Maracuba will take place: Simultaneously, walkers and runners of all ages will start on routes over 3000m in hundreds of communities, remote places and mountainous regions. Each runner is thus part of one of the world's largest national races. The relaxed atmosphere and the togetherness of young and old from all walks of life are a good preparation for the day ahead.

Experience the sporting competition with international participation from over 30 countries. All information and preparations will be provided. Our social program offers you the contact and exchange with local runners. The route can be covered in advance by bus and a pasta party will be held the afternoon before. If you wish, you can get a basic health check beforehand.

A relaxing walk will bring you closer to the historic old town of Havana. The many alleys, colonial buildings and squares are unique in Latin America. Here you can admire 500 years of architecture and the lively life of the inhabitants in the old town.

A day trip to the Viñales Valley, registered as a World Heritage Site, brings you closer to the unique landscape of the Mogotes, the cone rocks, and lets you explore the interior of the only accessible cone rock in the world.

Beach included: a trip to swim at Playas del Este, Havana's house beach. Fine sandy beach and the blue and turquoise colors of the sea are pure relaxation after the run in Havana.

The sports trip for runners who participate in the marathon, half marathon or over the 10km distance. For blind runners with guide as well as wheelchair users we can make the participation possible in the suitable classes and if requested we can offer a support during the trip (pre-registration and availability on request).

Our tour guide will be available during the 5 days of the trip, from Wednesday to Sunday, and will undertake all activities with you; the only exclusion is the direct participation of the tour guide in the race.
